Two companies have claimed to use CBD products as alternatives to opioids or to treat other medical disorders. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning against them as their products are illegally marketed.
They sent the warning letters, on Thursday, to the following
- Washington’s BIOTA Biosciences, LLC
- Homero Corp., which conducts business as Nature’s CBD Oil Distribution of New Hampshire
As stated by Amy Abernethy, the FDA Principal Deputy Commissioner, “CBD has not been shown to treat opioid addiction. Opioid addiction is a real problem in our country, and those who are addicted need to seek out proper treatment from a health care provider”.
Both the companies have been accused of carrying out this illegal marketing and distribution with claims of treating opioid addiction or other ailments
These letters have issued an ultimatum of 15 days to the companies to demonstrate corrective measures.
