Virginia has paid no heed to the federal prohibitions. They have allowed CBD to be defined as food, and have  joined other US states in doing so.

Ralph Northam, the Virginian Governor, has recently signed a legislation. This not only designates CBD in the food department, but also authorises the state regulators to handle this new industry.

Regulations and enforcements will be run by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumers. They will supervise the various labelling requirements, will identify the contaminants as well as enable batch testing. To produce the hemp-derived products, the bill has an established slate of rules pertaining to the facility conditions as well as the requirements.

Certain hemp farmers, Charlotte Wright and the like, are in agreement and state that the governor’s decision “gives validity to the CBD industry”

“Right now, there is no testing required, no labeling, you have no idea what is in it. It’s like the Wild West.”
